Pastoral Prayer

by Rev. Robin L. Zucker

Let us join our hearts in the spirit of prayer in the name of that which we each hold sacred:

O Mysterious Presence
Indwelling Spirit of Life
All that is Holy that moves in and around us
In our joy and sorrow.
Through the pain of this tragedy,
Soothe us with the balm of your infinite love.
Remind us that we are loved and
Faith is loved and will be loved
By an unending love.
Yes, we are embraced by arms that find us
Even when we are hidden from ourselves.
We are touched by fingers that soothe us
Even when we are too proud for soothing.
We are moved by prayers that sanctify us
And counseled by voices that guide us
Even when we are too embittered to hear.

We are loved by an unending love.
We are supported by hands that uplift us
Even in the midst of a fall.
We are urged on by eyes that meet us
Even when we are too weak for meeting.
We are loved by an unending love.
Embraced, touched, soothed, sanctified and counseled.
Ours are the arms, the fingers, the voices;
Ours are the ands, the eyes, the smiles.
We are loved,
Faith is loved and will be loved
By an unending love.

So may it be. Amen.
